An embryo out of DT Sugar Chex Whiz—the highest producing rope horse mare of all time and AQHA/PRCA Heel Horse of the Year—by all-time leading sire Metallic Cat sells Dec. 24, 2024 in the Select Online's Christmas Eve Sale, marking the first-ever offering of a rope horse embryo of this elite cross.
Metallic Cat has produced nearly $75 million in offspring earnings, second all-time only behind his sire, High Brow Cat. Owned by Dixon Flowers Quarter Horses, DT Sugar Chex Whiz, with just five competition-age offspring, has produced half-a-million in progeny earnings and leads all rope horse dams.
"There is no safer bet to take on raising a winner than this embryo from Dixon Flowers Quarter Horses," Solo Select CEO Ty Smith said. "DT Sugar Chex Whiz won at the AQHA World Show, she won at the ProRodeos and she was recognized as the best heel horse of the year by the best cowboys in the world. She's still competing, still winning, and her babies have all proven themselves beyond reproach."
ARHFA World Champion and two-time NFR heeler Billie Jack Saebens competed on DT Sugar Chex Whiz throughout her career, and he's won more than $110,000 on her son, The Notorious BIG, who now stands at Solo Select and is owned by Southern Ranches.
“This is a dream cross,” Saebens said. “Everything Sugar has produced has been unbelievable, but adding Metallic Cat’s unquestionable genetics is just a guarantee that the baby will be next-level great. Whether it's a filly or a colt, it's set up to change the game."
The resulting foal will be eligible to be paid into NCHA Super Stakes, NCHA Breeders Invitational, NRCHA Cow Horse Incentive, Riata, Gold Buckle (no nomination required), PCCHA Cutting Stakes and Valley Equine Super Stallion Incentive (no nomination required).
